Updated website
I’ve updated my website - take a look! www.timwoodsmusic.co.uk
Hey guys,
This Friday (18th April) some of us are going down to London to see an exhibition, a performance and a film - everyone is welcome so please come along!
First, we will go to the Focus Music on the Move exhibition at The Hospital in Covent Garden. There will be a performance of 2 of my compositions and 2 tracks that I arranged, played on instruments made of car parts. There will also be an exhibition of the car part instruments and the chance to meet a member of the design team. The instruments are amazing so it’s really worth a look! The performances are at 1.15pm and 5.15pm - if we aim for the 1.15 performance then we will have plenty of time to look at the exhibition, get food, etc. before the film in the evening.
In the evening we will go and see a series of short films by Marylène Negro at the Tate Modern. The show starts at 7pm.
We’ll get the 11.15 train from Cambridge to King’s Cross. If you would like to come then let’s meet at Cambridge station at 11.05 on Friday. Hope to see you all there!

I recently worked as arranger on a project using instruments made from car parts, which you may have seen on the Ford Focus TV advert - they really work! I had a go on the Clutch Plate Guitar, and it sounds surprisingly good, although it’s a little clunky to play (that’s Mike Rutherford from Genesis at the mixing desk, with me chatting to Bill Milbrodt, the creator of the instruments, in the background!).
I arranged a song called Six O’Clock, as well as the piece of music in the TV ad, to be played on 5 of these instruments, and I went along to the recording and rehearsal sessions at Mike Rutherford’s studio in Surrey. I had an awesome time. Six O’Clock is being released as a charity single for the Teenage Cancer Trust, and can be downloaded from The Sunday Times Website. If you watch the ‘Making of Six O’Clock’ video, you can briefly see me in the background behind Mike Rutherford, and I was mentioned in the Sunday Times today:
“It was … arranged for car parts by Tim Woods, a composer and music student at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.”
Please download the single and donate at least 79p to the charity, because it’s a really good cause and it would be fantastic if the song got into the charts - thanks! The website is www.sundaytimes.co.uk/carparts
In the picture below of Kenney Jones playing drums made of car wheels, you can see me scratching my nose behind the microphone on the right! How embarrassing.

This is my piece for the ‘Music for a Painting’ task. I chose “Diego” by Alberto Giacometti as inspiration. I have since realised this painting may not be appropriate for the task so this may not be valid, but I like the piece so I thought I would post it anyway.
YouTube has just deleted all my videos, so I am trying to use Divshare instead now. It won’t convert any of my videos so that they can be converted though… I guess they will have to just be downloads until I find something better. If anyone has a solution, please let me know!
I’ve just had a lot of my music published on the Sky Sports website! I wrote the majority of the music for a series of rugby-themed Ford Ranger promotional videos entitled Tackle the Globe. Click here to check it out - you have to answer a few questions to get to the videos, just go for the most manly answers!
I’ve just started using Google Reader to view everyone’s blog - it’s a really easy way to see who has updated without having to check each separate site.
